3D Work

Spring 2008
I welded these two metal restriction contraptions. I cut triangles for the and welded them to make a boot that my foot could go into. Very uncomfortable. The arm piece I welded on a bracket so the piece swiveled over my arm, then welded on the post that sat on my hip. The project was to create something that could be a restriction to your life. I am a dancer, and I created these horrible contraption that would be a restriction for me when I danced. In class I tried to perform a dance with music and struggled.

Spring 2008
This project we had to make a mold of our feet. Then made my feet with plaster. The project was to create a way to portray your life with your feet or find something that means a lot to you and portray that in your own two feet. My feet represented my boyfriend at the time who is in the navy, I placed the two feel on top of each other because it symbolized how much i missed him, the peace symbol on the purple foot is for the war and our troops over in Iraq. The dog tags is a representation of those who have died, which is why its on the gray foot.

I was in a class that we had to draw in illustrator a 2D image and then use that image to create it in 3D. Andrea and I worked on it together. We got ripped to shreds because the nose of it didn’t tapper off to an elephants trunk. It was straight all the way down, only looking at it from the side you couldn’t tell, but that defeated the purpose of having it 3D. We used news paper and cardboard then made the paper mache liquid with flour and water. It took us 3 days to make.

Spring 2009
I created a visual journal using glass, wood, etching cream and contact paper. Usually journals are only seen by the writer. I for 45 days drew in my drawing book what i felt that day, what I saw that stuck in my mind, and whatever that was going through my mind. I laid contact paper down on all the pieces of glass, I drew on the contact paper with a permanent marker and then weeded out the contact paper I didn’t want with a exacto-knife. I etched each glass pieces when I was done with the day and then made a frame around each one and used brackets so that it would fold up. During the process, i broke the glass and then sadder the pieces together.
Fall 2005
It was my freshmen year, we had to design a chair. I went a little over board and design a love seat. Its made out of pine wood. I used a dark stain and put a drawer at the bottom of for magazines or all my art supplies. I bought a futon so that it was comfortable.
